The Juravinski Foundation
Improving Lives Through Health Research and Innovation
We support innovative ideas, research, and initiatives that have the potential to improve health outcomes, strengthen healthcare systems, and enhance the lives of patients and communities.
Our Story
The Juravinski Foundation was established in 2011 through a trust created by Charles Juravinski, one of Canada's most respected philanthropists and business leaders.
Building on the remarkable legacy of Charles and Margaret Juravinski, the Foundation supports innovative approaches that advance healthcare and improve outcomes for individuals and communities.
Today, the Foundation is guided by a Board of Trustees committed to supporting bold ideas, meaningful collaboration, and practical innovation that can create lasting impact.

We are particularly interested in initiatives that:
- Advance health research and innovation
- Introduce new models of care
- Improve healthcare delivery and patient outcomes
- Accelerate knowledge translation and implementation
- Leverage technology, diagnostics, data, and emerging tools
- Foster collaboration across institutions and disciplines
- Demonstrate a clear pathway to implementation and impact
- Have the potential to scale beyond a single organization or setting
- Include a thoughtful plan for long-term sustainability
Areas of Interest
Examples of initiatives that may align with the Foundation's priorities:
What We Typically Do Not Fund
- Routine operational funding
- Endowments
- Ongoing program maintenance
- Projects without a clear pathway to impact
- Established programs lacking an innovative component
- One-time requests that do not align with strategic priorities
- Projects requiring commitments beyond established funding parameters
These guidelines are intended to provide direction and may evolve as the Foundation's priorities continue to develop.
An Invitation-Only Funding Model
The Juravinski Foundation operates an invitation-only funding process and does not accept unsolicited grant applications. The Foundation may proactively identify opportunities, engage with organizations aligned with its strategic priorities, or invite selected organizations to submit a Letter of Intent. Organizations are welcome to contact the Foundation to introduce their work; however, submitting an inquiry does not constitute an application and does not guarantee an invitation to apply.
- 01
Letter of Intent (By Invitation)
Organizations invited to participate may be asked to submit a Letter of Intent outlining the opportunity or challenge being addressed, project objectives, expected outcomes and impact, key collaborators and partners, a preliminary budget, timeline, and plans for implementation and long-term sustainability.
- 02
Full Proposal
Selected organizations may be invited to submit a more detailed proposal for review and due diligence.
- 03
Review and Assessment
Applications are evaluated against the Foundation's mission, strategic priorities, potential impact, feasibility, innovation, scalability, and sustainability.
- 04
Funding Decision
The Board of Trustees makes final funding decisions.
- 05
Learning and Reporting
Successful applicants may be asked to provide updates regarding project progress, outcomes, learnings, and impact.
